FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21ST

All Day - Scarecrows on Main - Downtown Kennesaw 

Enjoy a stroll through downtown Kennesaw to enjoy the spirited Scarecrow displays crafted by local businesses, organizations as well as some of our KSU students!

10AM - 9PM - Zuckerman Museum of Art Open -FREE

Come tour our amazing on-campus art museum and see the two current exhibitions, Oscar Muñoz, Recollections and The Gravity of Beauty, at our on-campus art museum. While our museum is free, please RSVP to let us know you are coming HERE. Parking is free in Lot D, near the museum.

We will also offer a complimentary after hours event from 5-9pm, to connect with the art and ideas on view in the museum's spaces. Join us under the stars for an evening celebrating the arts in collaboration!

  • From 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm, join us for an onsite lecture with the Fall 2022 Windgate Foundation Artist-in-Resident, Donté Hayes.
  • From 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the Edgewood String Quartet will perform during the presentation of a large-scale video work by artist team Hironaka & Suib projected on the museum's upper plaza exterior.

11AM-2PM - Take Your Family to Lunch - On Your Own
Join your student for lunch at either one of our dining halls and experience 2022's 13th best dining program in the nation! Each location will have a spirited Black and Gold dessert assortment to kick off our fun weekend!

Payment: Guests are welcome to use their students Meal Plan entries or pay $12 plus tax per person with credit or debit (cash is not accepted).

3:00PM - 6:00PM –Student Recreation and Activities Center Tours -FREE

Didn't get a chance to tour the amazing Recreation Center at the Kennesaw Campus yet? Now's your chance! Come to the front desk and enjoy a personal tour by one of our student staff.  They'll show you all the cool offerings your student can enjoy while being an Owl.  (The Marietta Campus Recreation Center is getting a huge rennovation over the next year, so this will be the main recreation center for both campuses - come check it out!) Location: Siegel Student Recreation & Activities Center, Kennesaw Campus

*For Paid/Registered Participants of Family Weekend*- NOW CLOSED - If you purchased a weekend package or tshirt for Family Weekend, be sure to stop by our check-in location to pick up your materials. Details were sent via email this week. Be sure to check your inbox. If you are unable to make this time for pick up, please contact: family@kennesaw.edu. We will host a late check in on Saturday morning from 10am-11am, but we need to know you are coming. Thank you in advance.

For paid and non-paid participants of the weekend: Anytime from 4-6pm, come to the Carmichael Student Center on the Kennesaw Campus to enjoy an Academic Advising presentation/Q&A, lots of campus resource tables AND an Off-Campus Housing Fair on the 1st floor! It's never too early to plan for where your student will live next year! All this with time to shop at the bookstore while hearing live music played throughout the student center! 

*6:30PM – 7:30PM – "HOOT-A-PALOOZA" - (Dinner + Pep Rally)

Get fired up for the big game with Friday’s signature event! After you’ve checked-in/grabbed your materials for Family Weekend, you’ll be ready to enjoy a fun tailgate dinner on the Campus Green with tons of fun with attractions and music! You’ll hear from our President & Athletics Department as well as get pumped up from our cheer squad to prepare for tomorrow’s Homecoming ‘gold out’ game. As we conclude, our Marching Owls will lead us in spirited music that will usher us into the next and final event of the evening. 

7:30PM – Doors Open/8:00PM Event Begins – "Hooty Hoo’s Got Talent" – FREE (but must reserve an e-ticket in advance)

Formerly known as the 'Lip Sync' competition: Students will compete to see ‘HOO’ has the most talent on campus! This event will begin promptly after the Pep Rally ends – just a short walk across the Campus Green to the Convocation Center. This event is free but you must reserve an e-ticket in advance HERE. 

8:00PM – Symphony Orchestra/KSU Student Concert - REGISTER HERE WITH PROMO CODE

Not in the mood for a student talent show? No worries, we have one more on-campus event you may choose to attend after the pep-rally/dinner!

Known for its eclectic repertoire, the Symphony Orchestra was invited to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference and the National Conference of the College Orchestra Director’s Association in 2021. Promotion Deal is for up to 2 tickets at $10 each instead of $12. The promo code is “parent”. Student tickets are already $5. Location: Bailey Center/Kennesaw Campus

10AM-2PMMuseum of History and Holocaust Education – KSU Center

The Museum of History and Holocaust Education is thrilled to welcome families for Homecoming & Family Weekend! We are a short walk away from the Fifth Third Bank Stadium (we are located at 3333 Busbee Drive, Kennesaw, GA 30144). The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is free to explore on your own. You may park for free near the entrace of the museum, but due to game day activities, please use the entrance closest to Chastain Road. If you proceed to the second entrance, closer to the KSU Stadium, you'll be asked to pay to park. You may leave your car at the museum free of charge for the entirety of the game if you park in the free area. 

While the exhibits are designed to be self-guided, a museum educator will be on-site to give free tours at the following times:

  • 10:30-11:00 – Tour of Parallel Journeys: The Holocaust Through the Eyes of Teens
  • 11:15-11:45 – Tour of Georgia Journeys: Legacies of World War II
  • 12:00-12:30 – Tour of Georgia Goes to War
  • 12:45-1:15 – Tour of Beyond Rosie: Women in World War II and The Tuskegee Airmen: The Segregated Skies of World War II

The Museum will close at 2:00 p.m. in preparation for the game.

After a full array of events on Friday and Saturday, you’ll be ready to sit down and enjoy a delicious brunch while hearing from a very special keynote presenter as well as campus leaders. We’ll also recognize our 2021 No Taste Like Home Cooking Contest winners and kickoff our next round, to include you! You’ll leave with fun swag and amazing memories! *Depending on demand, we may have two brunch seatings (8:30-9:30 & 10:30-11:30) If registered, specific details will be emailed.

1:00PM-4:00PM - Fall Family Fun Day in the Garden - Marietta (505 Kennesaw Avenue)

Fall Family Fun Day, hosted by the Marietta Educational Garden Center, will be Sunday, October 23rd from 1pm to 4pm on the grounds of Fair Oaks. This FREE family event will feature presentations at 1:45pm and 2:45pm by a bat expert, Joe Ranney, friendly farm animals from Little Red Barn’s mobile petting zoo, autumn crafts, games and more! We are excited for our communicty to enjoy this beautiful season on the grounds of Fair Oaks. LEARN MORE HERE

9:00AM-3:00PM – Boo at the Zoo – Zoo Atlanta

After the Family Weekend Farewell Brunch, head down to Atlanta’s favorite fun family Halloween festival! Sample treats throughout the Zoo; meet whimsical, kid-friendly characters; take in the merry-not-scary sights; and make Halloween memories for the whole family in the home of more than 1,000 animals from around the world. 8:30AM-7:00PM – Cobb Tradeshow – Cobb Galleria Centre

After the Family Weekend Farewell Brunch, head down to Cobb Galleria for a curated fashion event produced by the Atlanta Apparel Exhibition Group. Cobb Tradeshow is in the Southeast but far reaching across the USA for retailers and exhibitors alike! MORE INFO HERE
