Family Weekend 2021 is excited to welcome you! Please enjoy the following weekend schedule options. As of 10/1, the Weekend Kick-Off Welcome Reception as closed. If you did not register for this event prior to 10/1, you will not be able to attend. All other events listed below have their own information and links needed. Enjoy tailoring your Family Weekend 2021 experience for what you and YOUR family need.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15TH

All Day - Scarecrows on Main - Downtown Kennesaw 

Enjoy a stroll through downtown Kennesaw to enjoy the spirited Scarecrow displays crafted by local businesses, organizations as well as some of our KSU students!

10AM - 5PM - Zuckerman Museum of Art Open -FREE

Come tour our amazing on-campus art museum and see the two current exhibitions, The Labor of Remembrance: Print and Textile Works by Louise Bourgeois and This Mortal Coil, at our on-campus art museum. Location: Kennesaw Campus

11AM-2PM - Take Your Parent to Lunch - On Your Own
Join your student for lunch at either one of our dining halls, and experience the 5th best dining program in the nation! Location: The Commons and Stingers Dining Halls

Kennesaw Campus, Student Center University Rooms, Atrium & Leadership Room

  • Drop in to get your Weekend Welcome Packet (included with paid packages), mingle with campus partners/local vendors and enjoy live music by our amazing and talented KSU students! - NOW CLOSED
  • If you are able to attend the Wellbeing Panel at 5pm, you'll enjoy hearing from specific campus partners related to student wellbeing that you likely missed during your orientation experience. You and your student will learn a lot! (included with paid packages) - NOW CLOSED
  • The KSU Bookstore will host extended hours paired with a fun promotional perk just for YOU!
  • Either before or after the Welcome Reception event, be sure to visit downtown Kennesaw or the Marietta Square for local offerings of food, breweries and shopping! Enjoy a night out on the town as an owl family!

Come cheer on our Owls as a family as they take on Jacksonville! Location: Kennesaw Campus, Convocation Center.

9AM-12PM - World Food Day - Volunteer Service Project Event 

Hosted by The Department of Student Leadership & Service and Rise Against Hunger, the World Food Day Homecoming Service Project is your chance to show your KSU spirit by participating in community service. Rise Against Hunger is a nonprofit that works to eliminate food disparity and hunger by providing meals all over the world. Volunteers will work together to construct meal packs while also learning about food disparity. Please visit THIS SITE for registration information and additional details.

11AM-1PM - Joel A. Katz Music Entertainment Business Open House

Come rub elbows with our amazing campus partners, learn about their award-winning program, all while you peruse amazing celebrity memorabilia! The MEBUS house boasts items from Michael Jackson, Willie Nelson, Whitney Houston, Cardi B, Justin Timberlake and more! Their student talent is outstanding, so be sure to check out their tent at the Owl Town pre-game event (3pm) on your way to the game! 9AM-5PM - HarvestFest & Scarecrows On The Square

Marietta's HarvestFest is an annual festival held each October. The festival includes the HarvestFest Arts & Crafts Show, Touch-A-Truck, Scarecrows In The Square, Costume Contest and Halloween Happenings kid’s festival. 11AM - 3PM - "Heroes Bringing the Heat": Chili Cook-Off Competition

Please Join the first annual chili competition between first responders and veteran groups as they raise funds and awareness for the Cobb County Public Safety Foundation and United Military Care. This is a family-fun event located in downtown Kennesaw that will host: live music, kids zone, raffles, chili, & beer from Horned Owl Brewing. Please see registration and details HERE. 1PM - 5PM - Game Day Experiences:

 The following events will be located near or inside Fifth-Third Bank Stadium.

  • 2:45 - Homecoming Parade - FREE
    • Experience the Homecoming Parade featuring our Marching Owls, amazing floats, our Homecoming Court, and more! This will begin at the KSU Center.
  • 3:00 - Owl Walk - FREE
    • Come cheer on the KSU Football Team as they enter the stadium!
  • 3:00 - Owl Town - FREE
    • This is a tailgate for fans of all ages with live music, free food from J.D.'s BBQ, sponsor tents, and more
    • Be sure to look for the Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program tent as it’s showcasing some of our amazing KSU talent and future opportunities for your student
    • Both Owl Walk and Owl Town will happen near the Georgia Natural Gas Gate, which is the main gate to the stadium along George Busbee Parkway
  • 5:00 - Football Game Kickoff vs. North Carolina A&T

3PM - 9PM - FALL-O-WEEN/TOUCH-A-TRUCK - Swift Cantrell Park

City of Kennesaw Parks & Recreation beckons ghouls, ninjas, superheroes and princesses to “Spook-Central Park” for its annual Fall-O-Ween Fest that includes trick-or-treating, costume contests, and big trucks/vehicles school for kids to tour. This is a free family event as well as an additional option if the KSU football game doesn't suit your needs as a family - we understand! More info HERE.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17TH

Family Brunch - On Your Own

Dine with your student on campus at The Commons, Stingers OR reserve a table at one of our amazing local restaurants in Marietta or Kennesaw, to enjoy brunch out with your student! Enjoy catch-up conversation and make some OWL-some memories!

12:00PM-6:00PM - eSports Homecoming Party - FREE for Students

The Esports Program and Esports Club is hosting a Homecoming PARTY! LOTS of food, games, and fun. We encourage students to bring consoles, tabletop games, or anything that they think will be fun to play with others. We will provide tables with power and PCs & monitors with network. Be sure to bring your own peripherals to enjoy a library of games on our high-end event-dedicated PCs and monitors. We will also have discounts on our official KSU Varsity Esports Jersey! Location: Marietta Campus Student Center, 1100 South Marietta Parkway

1:00PM - Volleyball Match -FREE

Come cheer on our Owls as a family as they take on Jacksonville! Location: Kennesaw Campus, Convocation Center. 

7:00PM - KSU's LipSync Student Competition - 5/3 Bank Stadium

Lip Sync is a Homecoming Team competition and tradition among many KSU student groups as they compete to take home the glory for this annual event! Teams are comprised of KSU student organizations. For the competition, Teams will perform a dance routine and a panel of judges comprised of KSU faculty, staff, and community members will judge the routines based the following categories: difficulty, creativity, precision, showmanship, and incorporation of the theme. Come support this awesome tradition! Fifth- Third Bank Stadium (3227 Busbee Dr. NW Kennesaw, GA 30144). Can't attend but want to watch from home? Lip Sync will be live-streamed here

  • Secure a FREE ticket here! Tickets will become available on Oct. 8th at 9:00am EST.
  • The main entrance of the stadium (Gate A) will open at 6:00pm EST for all attendees. Please be prepared to present your digital ticket to the stadium staff.
  • As you arrive at the stadium, please park in the Gold Lot, which is located at the address above and use the crosswalk to get to the main entrance (Gate A).
  • Prepare for a fun, 2- hour competition. You can even take advantage of the full menu at the concession stands during the show.
  • To conclude the event, we'll all enjoy fireworks after the Homecoming Week and Lip Sync competition winners are announced!
